Procedures will be established and relevant information provided to ensure that users of the Hebron International College (“College”) website are informed about policies related to the collection, retention, and distribution of personal information when using electronic resources.

The College will collect and retain personal information about users only to the extent necessary to provide the service or benefit desired; collect only appropriate information; provide the reason the information is collected so that users shall understand that reason clearly; enable users to examine their personal record which is maintained by the College; and inform users how to opt out of College communications and third-party network advertisers.

VIOLATION OF POLICY
The information provided in this information privacy policy should not be construed as giving business, legal, or other advice, or warranting as fail proof, the security of information provided through the College website. Employees in violation of these established procedures and requirements may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Students in violation of these established procedures and requirements may be subject to disciplinary action as outlined in the Student Handbook. All individuals in violation may face fines, fees for damages, civil or criminal penalties from the U.S. court system.
DEFINITIONS
- College Website – The official website and sub-sites include, without limitation, all web pages within the Hebron International College-HIC-edu.com domain “hic-edu.com” and derivatives.
- Personal Information – Any information concerning a natural person which, because of name, number, symbol, mark, or any other identifier, can be used to identify that natural person.
- User – Any natural person who uses the Internet or College Network to access the College The College reserves the right to change this Policy at any time without prior notice or consent.
What information do we collect?
Identifiers include real names, aliases, addresses, unique personal or online identifiers, IP addresses, emails, account names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or passport numbers, and similar information.
Personal Information under California law (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80(e)) includes items such as name, signature, Social Security number, physical traits, address, phone, passport or ID number, insurance and education details, employment history, financial data (bank, credit/debit cards), medical and health insurance information. Some of these may overlap with other categories of Personal Information.
Protected classifications include age (40+), race, color, ancestry, national origin, citizenship, religion, marital status, medical condition, disability, sex (including gender identity/expression and pregnancy), sexual orientation, veteran or military status, and genetic information.
- Commercial information: records of personal property, purchased or considered products and services, and other buying histories or tendencies.
- Biometric Genetic, physiological, behavioral, and biological characteristics, or activity patterns used to extract a template or other identifier or identify information, such as, fingerprints, faceprints, and voiceprints, iris or retina scans, keystroke, gait, or other physical patterns, and sleep, health, or exercise data.
- Internet or other similar network activity. Browsing history, search history, information on a consumer’s interaction with a website, electronic or software platform, application, communication, or

Non-public education information according to FERPA refers to education records that are directly related to a student and kept by an educational institution or an authorized party. These records can include grades, transcripts, class lists, student schedules, identification codes, financial details, demographic data, and disciplinary records.
Inferred profiles showing an individual’s preferences, traits, behaviors, attitudes, intelligence, and aptitudes from other personal data.
Personal Information may be collected from you when you register for our products or services, or interact with our website, software platforms or other services. Personal Information may be collected by HIC directly, or indirectly by a service provider or other vendor we have contracted with in connection with our delivery of educational and other services. For example, Personal Information may be collected via a computer or mobile software application maintained by a vendor contracted by HIC.
Personal Information does not include:
- Publicly available information, including governmental
- De-identified or aggregated consumer
- In the context of any relevant law, information otherwise excluded from the scope of Personal Information by such law.
We may obtain the categories of Personal Information listed above from the following categories of sources:
- Directly from our applicants and students. For example, from documents that our applicants and students provide to us related to the educational services and any other services they seek from us, including when applicants provide us contact or other information for the purpose of seeking information or services from us.
- Indirectly from our applicants and students or their agents. For example, through information we collect from third parties, including the U.S. Government and other educational institutions, concerning our applicants’ and students’ educational
- Directly and indirectly from activity on or interaction with our website, software (including mobile applications), services or applications made available by HIC directly or through a service provider or vendor contracted by HIC. For example, from submissions through our website portals or website usage details collected
- Text messaging/SMS consents (“opt-in”) and mobile numbers are not collected through third parties (other than HIC’s service providers collecting information on HIC’s behalf or in its name, under a contract or other arrangement).
- From publicly available sources and from third parties that interact with us in connection with the services we For example, from governmental agencies which assist in funding our students’ educational costs.
What do we use Personal Information for?
Any of the Personal Information we collect may be used and/or disclosed for one of the following purposes:

HIC does not sell Personal Information. HIC also complies with FERPA (defined below) with respect to the confidentiality and nondisclosure of student education records (as defined in FERPA).
However, we may disclose your Personal Information to the following categories of third parties:

- Government agencies, regulators, accreditors, law enforcement and other authorities entitled to such Personal Information pursuant to law or regulation, and other parties permitted by applicable law or regulation to receive such Personal Information where a release is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property or safety of us, our applicants and students, or others.
- Authorized distributors of our products and/or
- A third party with a legitimate educational interest, in accordance with FERPA or similar applicable laws, or a third party where you have provided consent.
- Service providers and vendors that assist us in operating our services, website and other software platforms, conducting our business, or servicing you, such as, but not limited to:
- Professional advisers including, but not limited to, auditors, bankers, insurers, legal counsel and professional subject matter experts.
- Learning management system providers and other software or electronic platform providers we have contracted with in connection with our delivery of educational and other services.
- Organizations we contract with for articulation (e.g., transfer of credit agreements) and affiliation purposes (e.g., internship/externship agreements).

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance
We are in compliance with the requirements of COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act), and we do not knowingly collect any information from anyone under 13 years of age. Our website, software platforms, products and services are all directed at people who are at least 13 years old or older.
