Objectives
- This Associate of Science in nursing degree in the Nursing program at Hebron International College prepares the graduates to sit for the NCLEX and upon successful completion of the State exam to be licensed of excellence within the State of Florida.
Upon completion of the program, the student should be able to:
- Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Provide accurate patient assessments.
- Provide appropriate healthcare interventions as a member of a treatment team.
- FDLE criminal background check. Less than 5 years in Florida, FBI investigation required.
- Function as a beginning level staff nurse in a variety of healthcare facilities to include hospitals, long-term care agencies, physician’s offices, clinics, out-patient surgical facilities and other community organizations.
- Function as a safe practitioner, using critical thinking and communication skills to act as a patient advocate and educator.
- Understand and utilize nursing related medical and technological equipment.
- Demonstrate a full understanding and practice of accepted ethical and legal standards.
- Exhibit leadership qualities in diverse healthcare settings.
- Understand the unique needs of diverse populations in regard to socioeconomic, culture, and lifespan issues.
- Promote health and wellness in order to facilitate positive growth and development. •
Think critically both conceptually and by using mathematical analysis; write and speak effectively; use basic computer applications; and understand human behavior in the context of the greater society.
Program description
This Associate of Science in nursing degree in the Nursing program is committed to becoming a program of excellence within the State of Florida. Students are provided a foundation of general education including courses in the natural sciences, and mathematics, as well as the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to work in a healthcare environment. Theoretical instruction is complimented with clinical experience in a variety of healthcare settings in order to provide a broad, holistic, and reality-based understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a professional nurse. Students will participate in planned clinical and laboratory experiences that will compliment classroom learning and will stress health promotion as well as disease processes. Upon the completion of the program, students will be able to take the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX RN) and to begin a professional nursing career. The profession of Nursing is a nurturing, relationship-oriented discipline in which the importance of perception and meaning in contexts of diversity, culture, change and quality of the influence the delivery of care to focal systems, the development of professional ethics and educational methods.
